A Tribute To All The Amazing Women Out There

International Women's Day

Ladies, can I just say that we are awesome! And boy, have we come a long way. So I suppose it’s only fitting that we get a day to celebrate our awesomeness; even though I think it should be celebrated 365 days straight, year in and year out. But this isn’t about me complaining about how it’s not enough or that there is a lot more that needs to be done. No. This is a tribute about survival, strength, companionship, friendship, confidence and love.

Women are beautiful creatures aren’t they? We are quite complexed human beings. Men, have pondered about our mysterious ways since the beginning of time and unfortunately they are none the wiser. In fact I think you guys are slacking in this modern age. Just saying…

We have persevered to get to this stage in life. And that is only because of the amazing women in generations past. It has been because of them that we can become engineers, doctors, astronauts, marathon runners, scientists, CEO’s, and so on.

Women not only have the ability to bring life into this world but we have juggled to have a career while doing so. We try and prove every day that we are every bit as good as a man. To most it may not be in grandiose ways. But we persevere nonetheless.

I’m not going to lie. There have been days where I have said, ‘My god, I wish I was a man. They have it so easy.’ But I now, take that back. I wouldn’t give up being a woman even if you paid me a billion dollars. This is because I have now realised that we are the superior sex. Yeah I said it and I think every one knows it. We care, feel, work our asses off, come home and cook for our family, support others completely, multi-task like no ones business, and wear heels for 12 hours straight. We rock god damn it! And because we rock, we have to always remember to support our fellow women, no matter what.

I have seen a lot of bitchy-ness from ladies in recent years and I think that’s due with trying to come out on top over a man. We have become a little harsh in this competition, so much so that we might have push a fellow female out of the way. So we need to cut this out. Now, more than ever, is when we need to band together as sisters. We need to uplift each other. Men are the ones who are the cut throat sex. I think it is our duty to keep our wondrous caring ways and leave the brashness to a man.

So let’s constantly pat each other on the back. We are more powerful than we know. And I am certain that we haven’t even tapped into half of that awe-inspiring power yet. But oh when we do, there will be no one there to stop us.

Today I celebrate with my fellow women. I celebrate our struggle, our survival, our empathy towards others, or caring nature, our nurturing ways, and the heart to keep on persevering in achieving equal pay. Just remember that when the men went to battle all those years ago, it was us women who put down our aprons and kept the countries going. We were all heart, who did not complain. It was our duty to help where we could. So I have no doubt that in the future it will be us who will be running the world. I am sure of it.

Have a wonderful Women’s Day ladies. And always remember we can accomplish anything.

I am leaving you with a Maya Angelou poem. Simply because we are all Phenomenal Women…

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
